I ordered this shoe to wear on vacation in Las Vegas. I knew we’d be walking a lot and wanted something very comfortable with good support. This shoe did exactly what I expected. I could walk for hours and hours without my feet and legs getting tired. My only dislike is that the toe loop on one shoe feels smaller than the other and fits rather tight. Not crazy about that but am keeping them anyway.
My recent purchase of Helen sandals marked my tenth pair. I have them in six colors. After one wearing,they conform to my narrow feet perfectly. The fact that Helen is a strappy sandal and at the same time,a comfort shoe allows me to wear them with jeans as well as with dressy clothes. I recently wore them to a wedding! The suede foot bed adds to the comfort no matter what the weather.
I bought these sandals based on reviews on this site, as well as prior experience with Mephisto shoes. The sandals have lived up to expectations. They are extremely comfortable, even though they did require a short break-in period. The footbed is raised around the edges, and initially the raised edges hurt my little toes. After two weeks of break-in wear and occasionally pushing down on the edge of the footbed under the small toes, the problem spot has been almost completely fixed. The sandals in pink nubuck surprisingly look attractive, in particular in comparison to other sandals with a blended cork/rubber footbed.
A couple of summers ago I arrived in San Francisco with swollen, painful feet from a very trendy pair of sandles I bought at REI. I was desperate to find something that would alleviate the pain and allow me to walk around and enjoy the city. I tried on a brown pair of the classic Mephisto sandals and hoped that this was the shoe. I was able to enjoy the city and let my feet recover from the expensive and painful experience I had endured with this shoe. I now have this sandal in two different colors and am thinking of getting the patent leather.My neighbors both have this same shoe. I absolutely fell in love with these sandals when I discovered them at our local shoe store about 4 years ago. I was thrilled to find them again online when our local shoe store stopped carrying them. The Mephisto Helen is very comfortable, and the arch support is phenomenal. I have some problems with my feet, and found that most comfortable shoes or sandals are not very stylish – until these. They receive a lot of compliments. They look wonderful, and my feet don’t hurt when I have them on. I wear them at home all winter long; they’re so comfortable. I would definitely buy Mephisto again.
I have both a dark brown and black pair of the Helens and absolutely love them. I have a high arch and have pain if I don’t support my arches. It took about 2 hours of walking in them to get the big toe strap to soften so it wasn’t sore but other than that they were buy and wear sandals. I normaly wear a size 8 1/2 and ordered 9’s and they fit perfect although the black Helens seem bigger than the brown ones. I have been wearing Birkenstocks as they have a great arch support system but the footbeds are not as cushioned as the Mephisto Helen. All in all….awesome sandals!
I have tarsal tunnel and heel spurs,and plantar faciatis, so I have a triple wammy I am only 40 their have been so many shoes I have tried wasted money but I put these on and from that moment no problems. I need shoes on all day I get tried of sneaks with insoles so to finally find a sandal that I can walk in. I walk to the store and the mall to pick my son up from school with no pain no break in time. I highly recommend them.
I really had my heart set on Birkenstock sandals until I started looking & did not find the style I wanted. A friend of mine told me about Shoebuy.com so I went to the website. Searching for Birkenstocks I came across Mephisto brand sandals. Never heard of them but I liked the “Helen” style. They were more money than Birkenstocks but let me tell you – I am so happy that I paid a few $ more. They are so comfortable. I wear them everyday – to work, camping, shopping – everywhere. I have not missed a day not wearing them and my feet feel great, even after wearing them a whole day! Buy these sandals, believe you me, you will not be sorry!
I chose to buy the Mephisto’s because I have recently been diagnosed with plantar fascitis and a heel spur. My podiatrist told me I wouldn’t be able to wear sandals for a VERY long time. This diagnosis was simply NOT going to fly with my lifestyle. You see, I live in Florida, stay at the beach, and would really prefer to be barefoot. I researched sandals with foot support, and found the Mephisto’s. I tried them on at a local Birkenstock store and fell in love. They were $140.00 and I simply couldn’t see paying quite that much. I was convinced I could find them for less online. To my surprize, they weren’t that much less expensive online, other than on Shoebuy. I have been exceptionally happy with my choice. These $95.00 sandals really are worth every penny and more for my feet!
: I love this sandal! The “Helen” is my most favorite sandal of all time and is a lovely classic style. I have wide “shoebox” shaped feet and it’s hard to find good fitting shoes. This sandal feels like velvet. The arch support is excellent and I can walk all day in them with no pain. They require no breaking-in time. I usually wear a 9, but the size 10 (Eur 40) fits perfectly in these. I did have to loosen the strap one notch for my wide feet. I have lots of sandals- Merrells, Eccos, other Mephistos and Birkenstocks, but these Helens are my favorite.
I love the Helen by Mephisto. I have several colors and will get them all eventually. I have since met other women who have them and feel as I do, that it IS the shoe to have in every color. I gave a pair of Mephisto (style ?) to my sister and she is now hooked. My only complaint is the price, which I pay as much in France as I do here. I also had a hard time getting used to the 41/11m. I Europe I wear a 41, in USA a 10m, but not with the conversion used by Mephisto, so I had to exchange a couple of pair before I got used to it. All the European brands do it, though. Why can’t Americans make comfortable shoes like they do?
I have been wearing Mephisto Helen sandals for nine years now. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn, I wear them everywhere. My podiatrist said they are great support for my feet – even when I had heel spurs. I think these are my 9th and 10th pairs. I can walk all day in them and not feel tired. I have been recommending them to people ever since my first pair. They are well worth the price. I live in the Chicago area and wear them from March or April through November, as long as I can stand the chill.
I had purchased this same shoe four years ago, and was pleased to see the price advantage from purchasing from shoebuy.com. This shoe is very helpful for me, because I have a neuroma in my left foot. The wonderful arch supports in these shoes support my foot well, keeping a lot of weight off the ball of my foot. Also, because of the open toe bed, there is no pressure put on my foot to bother my neuroma. I can wear them while being on my feet all day long without any nerve pain. The cork bed forms to your foot, making them the most comfortable sandals I’ve ever owned. I also wear other brands, but these are so much more stylish! These shoes wear extremely well, and one pair will last a person 4-5 years at least. I am hard on shoes. I’ve had mine for 4 years, and just now replaced them. Try this shoe. You won’t be disappointed!
