Featured Review: (by Mike), I was an owner of these fine boots. I really liked the stitching of the boots and how the boot itself was put together. When I went out at night time, I would wear these boots with a good pair of jeans and I would get compliments on my boots. Before I got rid of them, I was working on getting a good shine on them, but I did not see how it turned out. So why did I part way with these boots? Well I was traveling to Thailand from Europe and I had a weight limit for luggage. It was either my sandals, my PT shoes, my boots for my uniform (I’m in the Army), or my Timberlands that had to go to meet the weight restrictions. Unfortunately, I had to keep the Timberlands behind. However, I got some really good use out of them. They are really good for walking around in, but I would recommend getting some sort of sole insert. Nothing too fancy, just something basic. I also gave these boots a rough work out when I went hiking Red Rock in Nevada, (right outside of Vegas). These boots absolutely held up to climbing up and down rocks. I did not roll my ankles or fall or anything like that. Plus, I did not develop any hotspots. I am planning on buying another pair soon and would recommend them to my pals.

I’m currently a student at Humboldt State University and I got these awhile ago for the rainy Arcata weather- my old boots starting falling apart and I ended up with soaked feet whenever it rained, which happens a lot up here! I wanted something that was comfortable, practical, durable, attractive, and water-resistant, and I got it! One of the best things about these boots is their comfortableness; it really surpasses any other boot I’ve owned. They are Eco-Friendly, too, which is always a plus. As far as the water-resistance goes, they are great for wet weather and muddy environments, but remember that they’re only 6″ boots and the tongue isn’t sealed, so any water above a couple inches may get in. The soles aren’t too gnarly but they’re great, again, for muddy environments, and street-use, too. They’re pretty flexible yet still give support to your arch and ankle. The extra leather around the bottom near the sole adds nice protection and a little extra support to the boot itself. These are pretty nice looking boots, too, not too flashy but just very nice looking. The quality of the leather is pretty good, too, as is the quality of the stitching, so don’t expect them to fall apart on you. I’ve heard some people mention the sizing, they do run a little big, I tried them on at a store and ended up a half-size smaller than my normal size. I am very satisfied with these boots and they are something I would definitely buy again.
I have been searching for a boot that has a great colorway, durable looks (without looking like a comicbook lumberjack or SWAT), and a comfortable fit. The lower profile sole on this boot makes it fit for everyday uses. I even wear it at the office. I work for a homebuilder and traveling to job sites is common, but i also travel to sales meetings. The boot transitions nicely. I even started where this out with nicer jeans. My wife likes the brown color, it looks high-end but not too flashy. The fact that these are constructed in a “green” manufacturing process is the cherry on top. I heard these are recyclable, but i don’t think they will be wearing out anytime soon to be recycled.
These boots are the best looking boots out there if you can get a pair that fits you. As most of the reviews will say, these run 1/2 size to a full size too large. I normally wear an 8.5 and have tried a 7.5 (too small), 8.5 (too large) and finally ordered an 8 thinking it would be perfect. However, when I received it, it seemed too large again. I compared it to my 8.5 boots, which I haven’t returned yet, and found that they were the exact same size. It seems like Timberland needs a little work in their quality controls in sizing. It would also be nice if they got on board with the rest of the shoe industry so that 8.5 was actually 8.5!
This is a very serious boot with very solid construction. However, it does take some time to break in and I applied boot leather conditioning wax to them as soon as I got them. I’m still breaking them in.I do wear these boots to work occasionally in a casual work environment. They go best with cargo pants or something like that. While this boot can fit in a casual social or casual work environment, it’s heavy and is suited for more rugged and rural hiking.I read many reviews before I purchased this boot and the common complaint is this boot is slightly oversized, it’s true. I wear size 13 and even this boot is slightly too big, but that will help for double socking on longer hikes in the future. The boot is also slightly stiff, again, due to extended break-in period and it will adjust accordingly. While this is a serious boot, my favorite Timberland earthkeeper is the cupsole in wheat color: [@] It’s more casual and acceptable in settings such as date night or hanging casual on campus or at a football stadium for a game. The cupsole is much lighter and more like a gym shoe. Just more comfortable. But the cupsole is nowhere near as rugged as the 6-inch earthkeeper in leather. My wife likes them both, though.
When I purchased the Earthkeepers I had it in mind to wear them for casual purposes. I gave them time to break in, but never became happy with the overall quality. The boot is flimsy and uncomfortable. I had a pair of Doc Martin’s that lasted 5 years of casual and rugged wear. The Earthkeepers didn’t last 6 months. On a final note, where I come from you get what you pay for and the Earthkeepers wore like a cheap pair of boots from […].
I dont know what chris is talking about. timberlands always last for years and years. i got these things for christmas and they are GORGEOUS. veryyyy nice leather and very well made. all my buddies at a party saturday night gave me great compliments. now i wanna buy a second pair. also veryyyyy comfortable. i live in chicago and the wind sucks! these keep my feet warm. ALSO GET A SIZE LOWER, ITS TRUE THEY RUN A SIZE BIGGER
Very comfortable boot, stylish, rugged, and an overall joy. There is a slight break in period. No big deal. It took about a week, then they felt great. I took the advice from all the other reviews about the boot being a size bigger. I normally wear a mens 11, but i took the advice and got a mens 10. Good call. The 10’s fit me perfect.
I’m typically a Timberland fan but I’m a little dissappointed with a very basic design flaw which makes these almost purely fashion boots only. The tongue for these boots starts right where the laces start without any webbing or protection connecting it to the sides of the boot so in even 3 inches of snow it can get right inside the boot. even stitching the tongue a few inches higher inside the boot would have a dramatic impact. i’m a big outdoors guy but i don’t think i can wear these for anything more significant than casual friday work shoes.
I also had high expectations. I had a pair of the original tan boot for 10 years, great book. Bought a pair of waterproof shoes, great fit and wore them out after 5 years. Timberland has skimped on the sole construction. Not very comfortable and I do not see these lasting more than a couple of years. Two star for the look. Sizing is way off. I needed a size and a half smaller than my normal size.
Again, a great looking boot. Can be worn with or without pants, but after a month of wear the sole began to peel. I tried to repair them myself but the glue and poor adhesion led the toe to peel again. I love the look and feel of the boots but was thoroughly dissapointed with the peeling, especially since they arent the cheapest boots.
These boots look fantastic, and after a coat of leather protector, look and perform even better, but Timberland really needs to adjust their sizing to fit the rest of the shoe world.
I measure a 10 on a Brannock device, wear size 10 in most dress shoes, 9.5 in Chuck Taylors, and 10.5 in most athletic shoes. Even a 9.5 in these is a whole size larger than it should be.
I’m really disappointed in the sizing on these boots. I ordered online, so if you’re planning on buying these I highly recommend that you go somewhere to try them on first.
Looks and feels absolutely great. The quality of leather is great. Taking care of the shoes is easy and pleasurable. The problem is fast wear.
I have mine for almost a year, but mostly was wearing my sneakers, and Timbers – only occasionally. And how suprised I was to find out that the rubber sole was half-erased, the protector pattern was almost flat. Come on! This winter was the time I wanted to use the boots to the fullest and here I am.
Maybe I will simply change the sole for a really durable one. This is a fat minus to the respected company.
(but still I would recommend these shoes simply for great looks)
This boot is very comfortable and lightweight. I find the fit to be spot on at size 9. I’ve been wearing these boots for about a month now, which includes casual dress for office work, casual activity such as dog walking and mild hiking in Florida’s winter, and a trip to New England that included 18″ of snow during the blizzard. These boots kept my feet warm and dry throughout the storm, which included snow shoveling and dog walking in the snow. I also wore them as I drove from 02780 to 32653. They were extremely comfortable.
Ran about a half size to big, even with thicker socks. Wonderful leather and construction. Built to last for years, while looking authentic and well within the style for years to come.I wouldn’t recommend this boot for hiking as some posts have attributed its use for such things. These are not really designed to be a hiking boot. You can find much better boots that are specifically designed for such activities. You won’t go wrong with this boot.
I just don’t understand why Timberland doesn’t fix their DANG SIZING!!!? I ordered a half-size smaller than what I normally wear and the boot still feels a size too big. I guess they don’t listen to customer feedback because the last pair of Timberland’s I bought about 8 years ago had the same issue and people complain about it over and over. Now I have to go through the hassle of exchanging these.
I got a pair in january and they were worn out by may and i only wore them during the week for work. the sole feels too thin, they are really nice looking shoes though. i would get another pair if they werent so expensive, i feel like i just waisted my money. the other timberlands that i have have lasted almost two years and they were half the price, i wish they would make the earthkeepers like the other timberlands.
These boots exceeded every expectation. I loved the looks of them and wore them to work as well as for a night out. At the end of their life I beat the hell out of them with landscaping, yard work you name it. I will say that the sole is an issue it wears pretty quickly and it separated at the toe about an 1/8 inch almost immediately. I returned my first pair and the new pair did the same thing. I lived with it and as described above it never went farther then the toe. Overall I am a boot guy and these might be the best pair I have ever owned.
I was a bit dubious looking at this online. I was unsure of the style, and what I was really looking for was a boot I could walk the two miles to work in comfortably. These didn’t look like they had the comfort I needed when I was viewing them online but… surprise, they’re one of the most comfortable boots I’ve worn. They’re durable (so far, I’ll update it in a couple of months if they aren’t) but supple and comfortable, as well. No unexpected rubbing. And, bonus, they look quite a bit better out of the box than they do online. I’m not sure why that is but their simple styling was a welcome surprise. Pulling them out of the box was a lot like finding a pair of faded just-broken-in jeans. Also, I’m pretty eco-conscious. Shoes are notoriously hard on the environment. These boots are pretty guilt free. Small consideration for most, perhaps, but important to me. A whole-hearted thumbs up on these boots. I’d give them 5 stars but I don’t yet know how they wear in the long run.
I purchased this boot 6 months back. After the usage of 2 weeks, the top leather of the insole of this boot started separating from the foam base merely from regular foot sweat which was really annoying. I can totally understand earth-friendly adhesives are great, but I think that it was ridiculous. Considering the fact that it is a manufacturer defect, I tried to contact the company and told them about it. One thing is for sure that I am never going to buy this brand again in my life. I would never recommend these to any one who is expecting to wear the actual boots. I seriously don’t know what the hype is over these boots. They are not comfortable and offer no arch support too. I tried to buy some inserts for these and now they are bearable only. Still I cant wear these for a longer period of time. I also replaced the laces because they kept coming untied and I was all the time busy in the hassle of tying them up. I simply don’t understand why people are praising these. For me they are just wastage of money. They also require break in time and even the break in period they never feel comfortable. The major reason for buying these was to get a water proof boot and they were waterproof to some extent until the water passed by my toes and my feet got really wet which was really annoying and very shocking too. In simple words they are not at all water proof may be due to the reason that the tongue is not attached to the side of the boot, so if you get the water over the toe of the boot your feet will end up wet. If you want to avoid the water then you have to tie the laces so tight that it cuts off your circulation and if you want to avoid that hassle then simply don’t buy them. I can’t return these now as I have used these, but this boot is the biggest mistake of my life. If you ask about durability then I would like to inform you that they are not durable as well. They look really good, but they fell apart with three months of city wear and I had to mend them. The soles of the boots wore down an inch in the first month and the rest of the boot was soon to follow and no jokes about it. They may survive for a year but for that you have to treat them with utmost care. I was never expected a Timberland shoe to be like this one. Extremely Disappointed!!!!!!!!
This boot feels and look really good. I got really impressed with the look of these when I first saw them and decided to buy it. I read many mixed reviews about these and I have mixed feelings about these boots too. I have just got these a week back so I am sure how durable these shoes are. I think these shoes should be worn not for the whole day. They are good for light use. These boots requires no break in time. I wore these boots for the first time and they were completely comfortable. They look really good with jeans or khakis. I have bought these in black color which goes with every thing. I read many reviews and ordered a half size smaller. I thought that after this I wont be needing to exchange it and I can avoid the hassle for exchanging it, but I was wrong because they were still big on my feet. I finally ended up ordering one size down and they fit me really well. All in all if you like to order online then I would suggest you to buy these one size down to have a perfect fit. Overall I am having a good experience with these. They have a few drawback but overall it’s a good shoe. They have nice fitting on my shoes. They also good with most of the outfits. For me it’s a good shoe!
